Late for Work:

Wisdom begins withe FEAR 

Knowledge begins with UNDERSTANDING of the HOLY.

Proverbs 9:10- The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom:

and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Then we are told that our days can be MULTIPLIED but not just our days but the years of our life with INCREASE.  

11- For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.

And we thought we could do that by eating right, running around the block every afternoon after work! I have heard people say "going by the GYM on the way home to workout." Never heard anyone say the were going by the Church on their way to talk with The Lord so I can better get to know Him.

Long days start not with eating fruits and veggies with a side order of lettuce; oh there's nothing wrong with eating health foods. But wisdom comes from fear of The Lord and understanding comes from being knowledgable of the Holy. Which brings on the added bonus of more days which become more years. 

The battles on what do we want? To look like Arnold Schwarzenegger which takes a lot of work or to be like David a man after God's on heart? Both take work, one makes you LOOK physically healthy the others increases your life; and you spent how much time in your Bible this morning? Oh that's right you had to get by the GYM first thing so you wouldn't be late for work.

Crying

Christ, who is the Wisdom of God; CRIES

Isaiah 58:1- Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

John 7:37- In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

It's hear and understand; the only way one can understand what is being said to them is know the language in which they are being taught.

Proverbs 8:6- Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.

Proverbs 8:7- For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

I have had the opportunity to go to different places. When I was in Nicaragua I heard many people speaking but understood very little of what was said. The reason was I knew very little Spanish. When I was in Brazil I could not understand anything at all, the reason was I knew no. Could this be the reason many are not hearing God? They just don't understand the language!
Maybe the voices of this world are crying so loud that the small still voice of God is being drowned out. If this be true then we are not understanding instruction, we are not finding out knowledge, getting counsel, we are not being lead in the way of righteous. The baby cries in the next room but the cry is foreign so we pay little attention to its cry. But then another baby cries down the hall and our ears perk up as our body gets up. What's the difference? One cry is foreign because we don't know the baby the other cry is not foreign because that baby is our son or daughter. Our walk in this life is determined by what our ears are tuned into.

1 John 2:16- For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

If our life is consumed with the Lust of our flesh, the Lust of our eyes and the Pridefulness of our life then how does one expect to hear about walking in the paths of Righteousness?

The voice is crying, but it's foreign.

Loose Living :) or :(

Proverbs 5:9- Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

HONOR- : respect that is given to someone who is admired

: good reputation : good quality or character as judged by other people

: high moral standards of behavior.

Proverbs 22:1- A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

Ecclesiastes 7:1- A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth.

Here we read of one that just gives away their reputation. Just gives away what others think of them. In chapter 5 of Proverbs this son is being instructed not to give away his honor but to be happy with his choice or with what God has given him in his mate. Just as it was in the garden when the serpent was able to get Eve to look at what she could have; not what she already had. Here we read of a woman who invites adultery; she makes it look so inviting. But the warning is also about her ways for we read that they are moveable. Could it be that she catches your eye by the way she looks at you or the way she is dressed? Her sweet words to you flow like honey, sweet, kind interesting. Watch out the trap is being set for there have been others before you; in other words what makes you so special? If you don't remove yourself from her destructive path you will give it all away. Your reputation, character, your morals, your mate, and for what? The bedroom! 

In 1968 ARETHA FRANKLIN came out with the song "THINK" in that song she said 

"People walking around everyday, playing games, taking scores Trying to make other people lose their minds. Well be careful, you're gonna lose yours."

The warning; don't lose what you've got to get what what you can't have. 

Proverbs 5:15- Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.

Proverbs 5:18- Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

When our eyes wonder the enemy takes full advantage of it and we loose. The rejoicing with our wife or husband is soon gone and we are now rejoicing with another. Our society may put approval on such actions but our savior doesn't. Life is much shorter than we think and we must never forget there is coming a day that we must all stand before our Lord.

Romans 14:12- So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

That honeycomb want taste that good on that day!

Walking on Marble

“You cannot measure your eternal value by the worth or collection of your earthly vessels” –Kenneth Kuykendall

At the height of Charles Spurgeon’s ministry, he was persuaded by a wealthy business man to tour an expensive, palatial home.  Walking through the corridors of the palace, the owner showed Spurgeon his Italian marble floors.  He tried to convince the prince of preachers that it was the best money could buy.  In his typical convicting style, Spurgeon replied, “These are the things that make it hard to die.”

Spurgeon’s remark was a rebuke against the desire for worldly possessions.  When a man spends his life pursuing the things of this world, he will often do so at the expense of missing the next world, therefore making it hard to die.

You cannot measure your eternal value by the worth or collection of your earthly vessels.  The Lord declared, “For a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things he possesseth” (Luke 12:15).  All that we possess in this life will one day fade away. The only thing that will last eternally is your relationship with God. Therefore, we are instructed to “set our affection on things above, not on things below.”

Your feet may never touch Italian marble floors, but if you live and die in faith they will one day walk on the heavenly street of gold.

The Holy Spirit Tinkers

When it comes to mechanical knowledge of vehicles, I have very little.  I understand the basic concept of filling up the gas tank; and if need be, I could perhaps change the oil, as long as I have the owner’s manual nearby.  I should have more understanding than what I do seeing that my dad is a “shade-tree mechanic.”  The term “shade-tree mechanic” simply means what it sounds like –parking a car under a tree, and working on it.  Before the computerization of vehicles, people used to actually work on their own cars and trucks more often than they do now.

There have been many times something would go wrong in my vehicle and dad would come over and start looking things over.  He would lift up the hood, jiggle some wires or belts, fiddle around, and within a few minutes have the problem figured out.  He knew where and how to tinker.

The Holy Spirit works the same way.  When we are having trouble getting our engine started, when we fail to move forward, He begins tinkering under our hood.  He knows what parts are stalled-out or broken.   Within moments He has pin-pointed the problem and starts working to get the issue resolved.  He alone can reveal the “mechanical glitches” of our spirituality.  Allow Him to tinker, so you can get back on the road.
