We have been talking all week about little things that are not just wise but exceeding wise. We have talked so far about the “ant” the “conies,”and the “locusts” we will finish up with the spider that is in the Kings Palaces. Proverbs 30:28 The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces. Remember the saying "Oh the tangled webs we weave, when first we practice to deceive". I remember back in the 80’s as I was helping out in a youth camp one summer. A missionary stood one night and took some sewing thread and asked for a volunteer. The volunteer came forward and the missionary said this thread represents sin, bad habits, addictions, lust anything that will and can destroy your life. He taught how it was just a little thing something you can easily control. He then asked the volunteer to put both of his hands together with palms touching each other; like you were about to pray. He then wrapped a few threads around his hands and then asked if he could break free; quickly without much effort he broke free. He continued to wrap the thread and asked him to break free. It was easy at first but soon became harder and harder until it was impossible to break free. He then said that is how the enemy works he is wise and tells you no problem, you can quit anytime you like; enjoy life. There was a young lady who began to smoke just when she was around her friends that smoked. I told her that if she didn't quit doing that that one day she too would be hooked. She refused to believe me and today she is a full time smoker and does it with others or by herself. Is that not what happened to Samson? Judges 16:6 And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee. Judges 16:7 And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man. Judges 16:11 And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man. Judges 16:13….. If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web. Judges 16:16 And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death; Judges 16:17 That he told her all his heart, She kept on until like the thread he couldn't break free. We can allow ourselves to get caught in the spiders web and it matters not whether we are in the Kings Palace or Ken's pub, Rich or Poor, skinny or larger! It matters not for we can all get caught in the spiders web. You may think there is no hope you are caught in the webbing and can’t break free. May I remind you what the Lord has said 1Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him(the Lord Jesus); for he careth for you. Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (or the understanding of others) Proverbs 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. If you keep looking to yourself for the solutions you will keep failing, you must go to a higher source than you. The spider is wise about catching his prey so is the devil. Like the insect he is caught before he realizes it so we are too if we fail to listen to that small still voice from within. Have a great weekend and don’t get caught in the web and miss out on what God has planned for you this Sunday down at the Church house. |
