Caught; Yes red handed. No question
about it. No defense needed; Guilty. Made to sit, while the law was quoted?
What? Death, oh my. That's when it all began to happen, Jesus sitting and
hearing the law now stoops and writes something in the sand. He then stands and
makes a statement; it's true this woman was caught in the act of adultery and
you want to stone her? Great, here's what needs to be done. He that is without
sin among you let him first cast a stone at her.
John 8:9 And
they which heard [it], being convicted by [their own] conscience, went out one
by one, beginning at the eldest, [even] unto the last: and Jesus was left
alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
No stones are thrown and everyone
leaves. Jesus turns and asked;
John 8:10 When
Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her,
Woman, where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee?
Very interesting, we see those
that are quick to point their finger at someone else for their wrong doing.
When it was brought to their attention that they too were guilty of something,
their conscience convicted them and they all left. Wouldn't it be nice if those
that accuse us would think before they point their finger and think about their
wrong doings in the past? You'll find those accusers where you work, where you
worship, you'll even find them where you walk. They're everywhere; but you and
I must make sure we're not the ones accusing.
We can do that best by remembering we too have done wrong ourselves.
