Don't be like Tom
Potential; Webster says it means "Existing in possibility, not in act." One Friday afternoon a knock came on a man’s door, his name Tom Seay. A man approached him with a strange business plan and it did seem crazy. He asked for Mr. Seay to invest $100,000 dollars and in returned he offered Tom 30% of the company. Tom told him that he didn't have time to review it then but that he would take it home over the weekend. Monday morning rolled around and Ray was waiting at the front door when Tom got to his office. Tom invited him in and said, "Ray, I read this plan three times; even shared it with a friend. We both decided that there's no way in the world you can make any money selling hamburgers." But Ray Kroc thought otherwise and continued on. Does anyone know where a McDonald’s is? Noah was following God's plan on building a ship. Noah believed in what God had said and began to build according to God's plan. People laughed at him, made fun of him and continued on as if he were some nut case. Until the rain came, now the potential for safety was passed. Like Tom who passed up the deal on 30% of McDonalds for only $100,000 dollars; the people of Noah's day passed up safety because they never thought it would rain and destroy everything they knew. So what’s so important that you would lose that which means so much? Mar 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? What Potential are you willing to waste today? Are you willing to invest in what you can't lose and can only be received as a gift; “the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." You can be like Tom Seay, the people of Noah’s day, or you can be different. It’s never too late in this life to follow that inner voice to make things right with a Holy God through the Lord Jesus Christ. But the day will come when it will be too late if you miss the gift that is offered to you in this life. That should be something for us the think about today “Existing in possibility” God’s made the plan, look it over and I hope you will not be like Tom.
