If our child were to cease to develop what do you think you would do as a parent? Would we be concerned? I think; no I am sure I would, because when a child quits growing there is something wrong. Shouldn't we be that concerned if we as God's children quit developing? The reason why is that the Bible tells us
1Peter 2:2
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
2Peter 3:18
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. Peter tells us that there should be a desire just like a new born baby has a desire to be nourished, so should a child of God. Then Peter tells us to grow in grace and know of our Lord Jesus Christ. If a child of God has lost his or her desire, then how can he or she ever gain any knowledge about their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? Let me suggest four things that will help:
#1- Prayer- don't read about prayer. Just pray.
#2- Study-
Acts 17:11
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. They just didn't believe it because others told them they searched for themselves; don't take my word for it study it for yourself.
#3- Giving- we should give of ourselves as well as our finances is that not what Christ has done? "For God so Loved He gave" that's what John 3:16 teaches us. God gave His Son Jesus Christ; He gave His best for a world of those who needed forgiveness of their sin.
#4- Fellowship
1John 1:7
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
As we walk in the light of God's word then we will have fellowship with each other and the reason being the blood of Jesus Christ cleans us from ALL SIN. This in return puts a desire for the word of God and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in our heart and we will have fellowship one with another. Four things we can and should do and if we are not then maybe we aren't developing like we should!
