Mark 9:9 (KJV) And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead. Jesus, Peter, James and John were coming down the mountain. Jesus ordered them not to say anything about what they had witnessed until Jesus was raised from the dead. If you remember back in Mark 7 and verse 36 a deaf person was healed. Jesus charged or ordered them not tell but they could not keep it quiet.
Mark 7:36 (KJV) And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it;Then again in chapter 8 and verse 30 Jesus tells His disciples not to say anything. Jesus asked His disciples who are the people saying I am?
Mark 8:27 (KJV) And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?
They said some say You are John the Baptist, but others say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets. Then Jesus said who do you say I am? Peter didn’t hesitate, he didn’t stumble around with his words. Peter dogmatically said Thou art the Christ. Then Jesus said Mark 8:30 (KJV) And he charged them that they should tell no man of him. Now As these three disciples are coming back from seeing Elias with Moses talking with Jesus and then hearing God speak from heaven. Jesus tells them not to tell any man what they saw and heard. I wrote all this to say that Jesus is training leaders and leaders are different. Sometimes leaders have to keep their mouths shut about exciting things.
