I
know you have heard or may have even used this expression “give the shirt off
your back.” I have heard it said many times but I had never known anyone to
take off their shirt and give their shirt to anyone else. Recently I was
reading and I read where this man did such a thing. He was in a Laundromat
waiting for his clothes to dry when a homeless man came in shirtless; the
manager told him he would have to leave. I guess there was a sign saying no
shirts, no shoes, no Laundromat. Anyways this man took off his shirt and gave
it to the homeless guy and then headed out to his car where his wife was
waiting. She couldn’t believe her eyes and asked him what in the world was he
doing shirtless? He told her that he had just given his away to a homeless guy
and needed a clean shirt. Has anyone ever taken off their shirt and offered it
to you? You probably said no, but wait just a minute they have; you say they
have? Sure His name was Jesus.
Matthew
27:35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting
lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted
my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots. Jesus
gave His shirt off His back so you and I could have eternal life. Yes, we do
know someone who took their shirt off their back for you and His name is Jesus.
Don’t forget to be in Church this Sunday He’s not asking for your shirt He just
wants to have a relationship with you.
