 Shoes off y’all

APPROACH

We have been looking at our Father and where our Father is, in Heaven. There are those who call Him the big man upstairs. Like calling their boss the big boss.

Now let's look at how our Heavenly Father wants His Children to approach Him.

Matthew 6:9 (KJV) After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.  Back in Exodus

Exodus 3:2 (KJV) And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

Here we read of a bush that is on fire but something strange is happening. The bush that is on fire is not being consumed. It’s not strange that the bush is on fire, what’s strange is that the bush is not being consumed by the fire. Would this catch your attention? Well it caught the attention of Mose so much so that he went to investigate..

Exodus 3:3 (KJV) And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.

Moses thought he would just go see what this was all about; he had never seen anything like this. As he went, something unusual happened.

Exodus 3:4 (KJV) And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I

  • A voice is now coming from this bush that is on fire that’s not being consumed.

Now things are getting more interesting.

  • There is a bush on fire but it’s burning but it’s not.
  • There is a voice coming out of the fire

As Moses gets closer. Moses may have thought nobody’s going to believe this. Then something else happens.

Exodus 3:5 (KJV) And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

Holy ground and take off my shoes.

I remember one night at a youth meeting many years ago an elderly preacher; whom I thought the world of. I was standing beside him when he looked over at me and another young preacher. He then said these words as he took off his shoes “take off your shoes boys for we are standing on Holy ground.” When you and I approach Our Heavenly Father we must remember something very important: He is Holy and we must approach Him that way. Hallowed be thy name
