There is a story behind every person.
There is a reason why they are the way they are.
Think about that, and respect them for who they are.
What did you notice or did you notice anything at all? “Matthew 6:9 (KJV) After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” Lord I ask at this time and moment that if it be Your will I really need Your help. You see, I really need my boss to give me that raise so my daughter can go to college next year. If not then we might have to sell the boat and the wave runners too.
That’s not the way the Lord teaches us to pray nor start off praying. The next words in this prayer are very important.
Matthew 6:10 (KJV) Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Thy Kingdom come??? Our Father, In Heaven, Holy is thy Name, Thy Kingdom Come.
- Who is this prayer about at this point?
What is our Heaven Father wanting at this point? It’s not about your boss, it’s not about your raise, it’s not about your daughter going to college. No! It’s all about who? God! Here’s what we must get in our hearts.
Zig Ziglar said this “You can have everything in life that you want if you just give enough other people what they want.”
That could be our problem in praying we get more interested in ourselves than in what God wants.
- Who is our Heavenly Father concerned about?
- Do we want what our Heavenly Father wants?
- Do we know what our Heavenly Father wants?
Ok let's stop for a minute and put the shoe on the other foot. What did we want our children to do and be?
- Did you want them to have good rapport?
- Did you want them to have respect for themselves, their family and others?
- Did you want your children to have respect for you as their Dad and Mom?
- Did you see your children’s bend for life or did you want them to be like you?
My oldest son is an Electrical engineer. His mother and I helped him get there but we didn’t make him become that. Our Heavenly Father knows where you are. He Knows where we will shine the best and He wants us to do our best for Him. We must recognize that ourselves.
Zechariah 4:6 (KJV) Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
Titus 3:5 (KJV) Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
First thing we must know:
- Are we a Child of God?
Second thing we must know:
- How do we know that?
Just because we say we are, act like we are, look like we are doesn’t make us so.
Do we want the Fathers Heart? If so we have no trouble saying “Thy kingdom come.”
Matthew 6:33 (KJV) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
I haven’t seen this lately but I used to see this on buttons and cards with the little word JOY. The little word JOY was an acronym J stood for Jesus the O for others and then the Y stood for yourself. It’s not that we are not important but we need to be concerned about others
Philippians 2:4 (KJV) Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. What about others? We shouldn’t be concerned only about our own interests, but also about the interests of others. Who have I helped to become better? How have I lived in front of others? Just caring about me will not help others. Our Heavenly Father wants each of us to know Him personally “Our Father” “in heaven” “Hallowed be thy name.” God wants you and I to know Him as our Father. My earthly father was my hero. When I was born he made sure all my needs were met. As I grew he made sure my needs were met. As I matured he made sure I was maturing and learning. Do I recognize my Heavenly Father as my provider?
