One Day

Have you ever heard or maybe seen this phrase “One day at a time?” It would be good if we were to just take life one day at a time. Look with me for a moment at a man by the name of Elijah. We will find him in 1Kings 17 as he marches into the Kings office and tells him it’s not going to rain until I say so and turns around and walks out. We read in
1Kings 17:2 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
1Kings 17:3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
1Kings 17:4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.
Elijah did what the Lord had told him to do and the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, bread and meat in the evening and he drank from the brook. Elijah is totally dependent on God for his next meal. The ravens didn't bring Elijah a month's groceries or even a week's groceries they didn’t even bring enough for a whole day.
All you and I have to deal with is one day at a time. Not a week, month or a year; just one day that’s all.
Psalms 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Lamentations 3:22 It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
Lamentations 3:23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
Psalms 68:19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.
Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
He will give you the strength you need, the provision you need, the grace you need, the answers you need, the help you need and the encouragement you need. The Lord is going to send you what you need on the day you need it and not a day earlier. When you get all worried and fearful about what's beyond today let it be a reminder that you're running ahead of your supply lines. You don't have tomorrow's "bread," tomorrow's strength or tomorrow's grace until that time comes. Don’t try to carry tomorrow's burden with today's grace because it will not work. Just remember what the Lord has already promised us
Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Just as Elijah trusted that God would supply his needs so you and I must do the same. What will you trust Him for today?
