Happy

I get phone calls that ask me such things as “how would you like to make 500, 5000 or even 10,000 dollars extra a week?”  If it were possible for me to make 10,000 dollars a week it wouldn’t be extra for that is what I would be doing full time.  Many think if they could make enough money life would be so much better and real happiness would finally be theirs.  Wait a minute if that is what you think let’s look first at what the Bible has to say and then at what history tells us.
Job 5:17  Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:
Psalms 127:5  Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them:  (children)
Psalms 144:15  Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.
Psalms 146:5  Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:
Prolms 3:13  Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
Prolms 16:20  He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.
The Bible tells us Happiness is in the LORD.  Now let’s look at history. Have you ever heard the name Charles M Schwab ( not Charles R Schwrab)? He was president of the biggest company in the world, United States Steel Corp.?   On September 19, 1939 Charles M Schwab died penniless after living for five years on borrowed money. Then there was Samuel Insull president of the world’s largest utility company died July 16, 1938 and was buried near his parents in London the city of his birth. His estate was found to be worth about $1,000 and his debts totaled $14,000,000.
Maybe things would be different if I just won the lottery; let’s see.  Callie Rogers won $3 million she spent her winnings on vacations, homes, shopping, friends, and even a couple of breast improvement. Six years later she finds herself as a single mother of two and works as a maid to support her family. She is also paying off debit induced by her spending. This is what she has to say about her winnings “My life is a shambles and now it’s all gone now I can find some happiness for it brought me nothing by unhappiness. It’s ruined my life.
Proverbs 23:5  Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.
Well it not money that bring happiness its knowing the Lord, being sure of a home in heaven, having a family with children; have we  handled this matter wisely?
