It’s Not Yours ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Hebrews 11:11 (KJV) Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.

There is a word that caught my attention immediately. It was the word “Through” that interested me. If you take the time to read back you’ll find this “By faith Abel, By faith Enoch, By faith Noah, By faith Abraham” When we read about Sara Abraham’s wife the verbiage changes. That word “Through” could mean because of Abraham’s faith. Abraham could not give Sara his wife any faith. Now Abraham’s faith no doubt could and did increase his wife Sara faith. Remember “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Sara was just like you and I. We must have our own faith. So I investigated further and went to the Greek and I found that the same Greek word was used for both of the words “by and through” were the same. Which confirmed that Sara had her own faith. I remember it well, the day I gave my heart to the Lord. On that day my life changed, don’t be surprised for that is what the Bible tells us will happen

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. On that day my faith in the Lord began to grow as I trusted the Lord more. Now my wife got a front row seat as she watched me change. The words that came out of my mouth changed, my friends slowly began to change, the places I enjoyed going too changed and going to church, yeah the place I never went became important to me. At night I would read the Bible to her and ask her questions about what I had read. Why did I do that? Because she had been brought up in Church and she knew the answers, it was great and I loved our time together. It was about 10 month that had went by when on one Sunday night we were at Church and my wife went to the altar to pray. I had no idea what she was praying for. Then our Pastor asked her this question “ what has the Lord done for you tonight?” Then she said these words “I was brought up in this Church, my daddy is a deacon, I thought I had been saved. But I don’t have what my husband has and tonight I asked the Lord to save me. You see I couldn’t give my faith to her she had to have her own. Oh yes my faith had a great impact on her. For she saw what the Lord was doing in my life. Remember she knew what I was, old things passed, all things new. Moms and Dads faith great, brother and sisters faith wonderful, husbands or wives faith outstanding but it’s not your faith.

The Team That Doesn’t Lose ๐Ÿฅ‡

Each life is made up of mistakes and learning, waiting and growing, practicing patience and being persistent.   - Billy Graham

Hebrews 11:8 (KJV) By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

Only one verse about Noah’s faith in God. But that one verse entailed so much. Now we read about Abraham’s faith. We are first told “when he was called” what does that tell us? I am like you. I get calls on my phone that I don’t want because they are from people I don’t know. But if I look at my phone and the names Judy, Larry, Jake, Danny, Clair, Pastor then I’m going to answer or call them back. You know why? You are right, I know them. So when Abraham was called by God he answered or as it reads “obeyed;” Are you beginning to see the common denominator? Noah was warned, Abraham was called. Both were within hearing distance of God. Not only that, Noah moved with fear because of the warning of what he couldn’t see. Abraham “went out, not knowing whither he went.” Noah and Abraham both believed God and went out to do what God had called them to do. Noah believed in God and built a monstrous Ark. I'm sure many if not all the people who witnessed the construction of the Ark laughed and made fun; not all but I’m sure some did until it was too late. Abraham believed God so much that he went out looking for a city that had “foundations, whose builder and maker is God.”

Hebrews 11:10 (KJV) For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

Don’t forget what FAITH is. Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Both of these men went out not seeing yet believing God their Heavenly Father. What were their results? They both saw. Heaven is not a figure of our imagination, oh no it’s a real place we can only see by faith. One day, those who had Faith in what they couldn’t see will see this place called Heaven in all its beauty. Isaiah 64:4 (KJV) For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

1 Corinthians 2:9 (KJV) But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. You know, Noah and Abraham were men just like you and I. I’m sure they got discouraged and even some days just wanted to throw in the towel so to speak. But when they woke up the next day they got up and kept doing what God called them to do until the day they saw it. I can’t count the times I have wanted to just quit writing, quit witnessing and just quit working for God but you know what? I don’t!         Quitters never win and winners never quit! For once in my life I’m on the winning team. How do I know? Because my Bible tells me so. But I have seen enough men and women alike close their eyes in death. One minute they are fighting to stay here and then a big smile comes across their face and they stop fighting and die. Wonder what they saw?

East ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿฟ West Removed

More examples of faith, those who believed in and placed their trust in God.

Hebrews 11:7 (KJV) By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

Many times we  can be warned of things that are dangerous. Being warned is not keeping one from danger it’s just cautioning about danger; “Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet” Didn’t we read something similar in verse one?

Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

I thought so. Now Faith Is; things not seen as yet.

God warns Noah. To be warned you have to be within hearing distance. How does faith come?

Romans 10:17 (KJV) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

John 17:17 (KJV) Sanctify (To separate, set apart)

them through thy truth: thy word is truth. Noah had Faith because he listened to God. We all know about Noah or I would hope so. Noah was a man who listened to what God said; what did God say?

Genesis 6:13 (KJV) And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Noah being warned of things to come. What was coming?

Genesis 6:17 (KJV) And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.

What was Noah to do?  Genesis 6:14 (KJV) Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. Noah is warned and asked by God to build an ark because there is a flood coming. So what did Noah do? “moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house” Did Noah believe God? He sure did; how do I know? He moved with fear! Fear tells me Noah believed God. He didn’t say “God I can’t do that, I know nothing about building an ark of that size, I’m just not capable.” Oh no, we are told that he MOVED. This proved Noah’s faith, but there was another reason Noah moved “to the saving of his house” Not only did Noah understand that there was danger coming but also understood that his family needed to be on that ark when it sailed. So Noah moved, preparing for something he had never seen, rain! Oh, read about Noah, you can do so by turning to Genesis Chapter 6 beginning at verse 9 until Chapter 8. Noah is a real hero of the faith. But if you read Genesis chapter 9 you’ll see Noah in a light much different. You see, God not only shows us the good and heroic side but God also shows us the dark side. Why is that? Well I think God wants all to see just because you have great faith doesn’t mean you won’t fall. Our failures always hurt other people and mostly those we love the most. I had a good preacher friend  and his faith was amazing. He went to a Church that had a membership of very few and in just a short time God used him and the membership went to about 400. But then that Pastor somehow let himself get into a compromising position with a lady within his church that cost him his leadership position. Oh my ๐Ÿ˜ฑsin takes its toll on the best of us. But our Heavenly Father doesn’t disown us because of what we do or have done. If salvation is based on performance we are all in trouble. God our Heavenly Father gets disappointed but He never kicks us out of the family. Did God get disappointed in Noah? I would say so. But when you read about Noah in Hebrews you read that he was a man of great faith not a man who let wine get the best of him. There’s no mention of that. Why? Because God loved Noah. Know what? God loves us too! What happened to the sin?

Psalms 103:12 (KJV) As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

It’s Clear ๐Ÿ†‘

Hebrews 11:6 (KJV) But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

This verse begins with the word “But” The word “But” is one of 7 conjunctions. As you may remember from your English class. Just in case you have forgotten they are “and, for, so, are, nor,   yet and of course but.” A conjunction joins together. “Lunch was great but the chicken was a bit dry.”

As we read the above verse the word “faith” is being tied together with what has gone on before.

In verse one “Now Faith is” Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. We are told what Faith is “the substance of things” and “the evidence of things” the substance is hoped for and the evidence is not seen. Then we read “Through faith

Hebrews 11:3 (KJV) Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. We read “faith is” and then “Through faith” we are given two samples of faith by two men that had faith Abel and Enoch.

Verse 4 By Faith Abel then in verse 5 By Faith Enoch. Then in verse 6 we read “without faith” Many say they believe in God and that’s great. We must put legs to our belief and many don’t. Without Faith, that’s our belief, it is impossible! Whoooa Impossible, does that word mean it can’t be? That’s what Webster says “that cannot be”  “without faith it is impossible” Faith is putting our belief to work. Do I believe that there is a God and that He Loves me? Oh yes, the evidence is there and it’s clear. Does God love ME? Oh yes, very much so. Go back to the darkest day in history, when they nailed Jesus to a cross. After they had spit on Him, hit Him and beat Him. What did Jesus have to say?

Luke 23:34 (KJV) Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. Oh that’s not a misprint, Jesus did say forgive and not forget. How is that possible? Here’s how “for they know not what they do.” I talked with a young man not long ago and he told me he believed in God. I asked him if he thought God was pleased with the way he used 4 letter words. He said no. God loves each and every one of us even if we don’t know Him “for they know not what they do.” So what is Faith? Through Faith? And then without Faith? We can say we believe but if our belief doesn’t motivate us then it is clear where our belief is. Words only.

Not Found ๐Ÿ™

As we just read about Abel’s Faith of sacrifice. Now we read of a man named Enoch and about his faith “He pleased God.”

Hebrews 11:5 (KJV) By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

There’s a lot happening in that verse Faith, Translated, No Death, Not Found, Pleased God.

What a great faith Enoch had. In the book of Genesis we read this Genesis 5:22 (KJV) And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: This would make me believe that there was a time when Enoch didn’t walk with God “And Enoch walked with God after” I have heard people say I have walked with God all my life. The Bible never supports a teaching like that. I didn’t; God was not a part of my thinking. But that all changed one day in April of 1973. So if I was writing about myself I would use the same type of verbiage. Maybe something like this. “I did what I wanted to do, said what I wanted to say. I had little regrets and no remorse until a day in April of 1973 . But AFTER that day I began to walk with God. Now this walking with God for Enoch was not a casual walk, oh no it was a serious walk. So serious was this walk with God we read this. Genesis 5:24 (KJV) And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. Enoch walked with God and in his walk we read that he had children both sons and daughters. That means that Enoch had a family, a wife, with children and he still walked with God. But one day God decided to take him and Enoch was gone. Did anybody miss Enoch? Well let’s see.

Hebrews 11:5 (KJV) By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found; this tells me he was missed. Why do I say that? By what I read “and was not found”in order not to be found means somebody had to be looking. Enoch had a Walking Faith that made a difference in others lives. My desire is that my Faith will make a difference in the lives of others in a positive way. How about you?

Just Try Hiding ๐Ÿซฃ

Hebrews 11:4 (KJV) By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

By what? “FAITH” Let’s not forget what “FAITH” is.

Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Abel placed faith in a God he didn't see “the evidence of things not seen” and that “FAITH” caused him to do differently than his brother Cain. Now little did Abel know that because of his “FAITH” In God and his sacrifice to God it would cost him his life. His life would be taken by his brother Cain. Cain and Abel talked as they walked to a field and something happened. I’m sure they were talking about what had happened with the offering and their sacrifices. Whiteout doubt Cain”s offering looked glorious. But Abel’s not so much so he brought a dead sheep. I’m sure Cain said within himself God would be pleased. But that was not the case at all. Genesis 4:5 (KJV) But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. Cain was hurt, his feelings were hurt, he was embarrassed. He must have thought all the hard work I put into this offering was the work of my own hands, the sweat, and NO RESPECT! Yes I’m upset ๐Ÿ˜ก!

Cain, like many today, they do good things but that’s not what God wants. God doesn’t want us to do our best because our best isn’t good enough. What God wants us to place trust in what He has already done. His sacrifice Jesus Christ. I know all that happened that day was not a pretty sight. The beating of an innocent person, the slapping, the spitting, the harsh name calling, the making fun of was not what I would call acceptable. But that was what was acceptable in the sight of God. We don’t have to understand it just except what was done for each of us. The understanding will come later.

So when Cain and his brother Abel got into the field Cain rose up unexpectedly to Abel and there in that field Cain kills the only brother he had. Oh Cain, why did you let your anger get to the point that you took actions out on your brother?

Genesis 4:8 (KJV) And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. I’m sure after Cain cooled down he must have said to himself “what have I done!” Cain tries to cover up but to no avail.  He knows and God knows. We can’t hide either, God knows!

Check It Out Just As It Appeared In Detroit Metro News๐Ÿ—ž️๐Ÿ“ฐ

Hebrews 11:2 (KJV) For by it the elders obtained a good report.

Hebrews 11:3 (KJV) Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

We are about to look at some of those who by their FAITH obtained a good report. Before the flood and after. These we are about to look at lived different types of lives. Men and women alike had great faith in the God they could not see with their natural eye. But they moved and followed and because they did we know about them to this day. But let us not forget they were just as you and I. At times their feelings of being victorious over what looked to be impossible. I’m sure it placed doubt in their minds. But that is when they trusted in the God that loved them and moved forward with great faith. I’m sure you have heard of a man named Daniel who spent the night with some lions. Oh, that was never his intention and he didn’t do that to prove that he had great faith in God. Oh no this was his punishment by mankind because of his great faith in his God. Well how did that turn out? He had a good night's sleep with lions. Oh you might say that those lions were not hungry. No, God protected Daniel because of his faith. Why do I say that? Because the Bible makes it clear. Daniel was taken out and those men who had worked up a plan to get Daniel in the lion's den. Well they were placed in the lion’s den themselves. Before they reached the bottom of the den, the lions attacked them and crushed all their bones. It’s all written for us to read about in the book of Daniel chapter 6. It takes FAITH as we look out each morning and ask ourselves where did that great light the sun come from? It never misses a morning. It's coming up and it’s going down and then we see another light that guides us through the night. Where did this all come from?  Our God!   Genesis 1:16 (KJV) And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. Or maybe this is what you have your faith in. The Sun is a 4.5 billion-year-old yellow dwarf star – a hot glowing ball of hydrogen and helium – at the center of our solar system. It’s about 93 million miles (150 million kilometers) from Earth and it’s our solar system’s only star. Without the Sun’s energy, life as we know it could not exist on our home planet. All that is true but where did it come from? I think I will just put my faith in  what God has told us about all that. It’s much easier than to think it decided to appear just the right distance from our home planet the earth. Isn’t wonderful how all this appeared and the best part is no one made it. I wonder what you and I will find today that no one made??? Did you hear about the new factory in Detroit? The one that just appeared overnight with new cars being made. It was the strangest thing: a new factory, new automobiles and no workers. It just all appeared. Check it out for yourselves in the Detroit Metro News just as it appeared on February 30, 2024.

Whose Life Have ๐Ÿซต Influenced?

Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

We are about to read about great faith. Verse 38 in chapter 10 says this  Hebrews 10:38 (KJV) Now the just shall live by faith: The just shall live by faith. Chapter 11 we will see faith in action. We are first told what faith is “faith is the substance of things hoped for” the word “substance” Webster says ”that which really is or exists” another word would be confindance. Now faith is that which really exists. Then we read “of things not seen” but even though it is not seen we are told “the evidence” evidence is that which enables the mind to see truth. Let’s put this verse together. Now faith is the confidence that really exists of the things we can’t see but the evidence of the truth is clearly seen. In my house running in every wall and ceiling there is a power I can’t see. But there is evidence that it’s there and I see the evidence every time I turn on a light. Not only that, although I can’t see it if I touch it, the evidence is there because I can feel it. Same is true about our faith in Jesus Christ. It takes faith to trust Him, as we will read about these great people of faith that are in this chapter. Some walked into great danger and walked out, others walked into great danger and didn’t. We all like winners, the Noah’s, the Abraham’s, the Moses's. We love to read about the three Hebrews in the fiery furnace who walked out because of their great faith. But then there’s the Job’s who had great faith but things turned out much differently for them. Here is what I think is so hard for many who have placed their trust in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Too many times we are looking to be great overcomers in this life when this life is not where we will live for eternity. Faith takes us way beyond this life we are living and gives us the confidence of the life we will live for eternity. Maybe you are like me. The closer I get to the end of this life, the more I want to stay because of those I love. It’s not the richest of this world, the bank account, the 401 k or anything else of value. The most valuable things in this life are not in the bank or stock market. My father n law was one of the best men I ever knew. He had an impact on so many. When he died I couldn’t believe all those that came to the funeral home to pay their respects. He had an impact on the young but wait they aren’t young anymore they are in their 60’s now. His impact in their lives lasted over 40 years, now that’s impacting a life. They came one by one to pay their respects to a man who had somehow and in some way touched their lives. Let me say this: we all impact others for the good or the bad. Where am I influencing others? What are they hearing me say? Where are they seeing me go? Who are my friends? How am I influencing those in my family? My children? My grandchildren? Those I work with and are around? Whose life have I had an influence on?

Ghost ๐Ÿ‘ป๐Ÿ˜ณ

Hebrews 10:29 (KJV) Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

What do you think of a person who shows no respect for the Son of God deserves? His blood of the promise and they act and treat it as if there’s no difference from other people's blood. They insult the Spirit that God gave us out of his kindness. What’s the punishment for such?

Guilty of what? Denying his deity, and eternal sonship; who render him useless in his offices, undervalue his sacrifice, despise his righteousness, and strip him of the glory of his person, office, and grace. The Son of God who became the son of man for the sake of men, is superior to men, and equal with God: One might say I don’t believe the Bible at all. Therefore I can’t believe anything it says. Then on the other hand that person has no problem at all believing in ghosts and those who claim to have seen or had an experience with ghosts. Do ghosts exist? We have all heard of someone who has seen a ghost, heard a voice. They made a TV series called ghost Hunters. It ran for 15 seasons on and off  from 2004 to  April of 2023   The review were interesting like this one. I've watched ... it seems ... about 100 shows. Never once have they shown any visible signs of apparitions ... no ghosts, no white smoky clouds. I smell ... fake!Ghost hunting is the process of investigating locations that are purportedly haunted by ghosts. Typically, a ghost-hunting team will attempt to collect evidence supporting the existence of paranormal activity. Ghost hunting has been heavily criticized for its dismissal of the scientific method. No scientific study has ever been able to confirm the existence of ghosts. But still there are those who believe in ghosts but many have a hard time believing in the Bible and Jesus Christ paying our sin debt. You will never see nor understand the Love of God looking from the outside. But once on the inside it is as clear as day.

Revelation 3:20 (KJV) Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

If YOU have never opened the door Jesus has never entered. Therefore you are on the outside trying to look in. I just heard a knock at the door; go see who it is; If it’s Jesus let Him in.

Fearful Time ⏰

Hebrews 10:31 (KJV) It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

It caught my attention. I couldn't help but think of the word “fearful” What does that mean? Webster says “Affected by fear; feeling pain in expectation of evil; apprehensive with solicitude; afraid. I am fearful of the consequences of rash conduct. Hence. Timid; timorous; wanting courage.

Fearful as if your house was on fire and you were looking for your children only to realize they were still in the house and you couldn’t get to them. Or as the man who was at the lake enjoying a summer afternoon with his family. Then he hears the cry for help. It’s his daughter's voice she is drowning. He runs to save her knowing he can’t swim, jumping into the water and they both drown. I’m talking about real fear, fear that makes you do things that you won’t ordinarily do. My grandson has a special needs child. It is hard for anyone but his dad to get him to do what he is asked to do. Sometimes his dad has to work at night and my wife and I are left to try to get him in bed. The other night was one of those nights he wasn’t wanting to do anything to help us get him ready for bed. I said all the things that I knew to make him do what we were asking but nothing I said made any difference. Then I called his dad and after he heard his dad’s voice he did what he was asked to do. What made the difference? He knew his dad and the fearfulness of what would happen if he didn’t comply. It’s a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. One morning my dad asked me to do something before I went to school and then he left. I thought to myself, I’ll do it when I get home he will never know. Good plan! And it was until I saw the house and my dad’s car in the driveway. I began to be fearful of what was ahead of me. That’s kinda the way life is. God made a great plan for salvation and we put it off and then it’s too late when it’s time to face God; trust me it will be a very fearful time if we put it off and turn the corner and see the car sitting in the driveway. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Know Little, ๐Ÿ˜ฐ Know Much ๐Ÿง

Hebrews 10:30 (KJV) For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.

One may know facts about a person like their birthday, where they went to school, their favorite restaurant, and many other details about them. But that doesn’t mean you know them, you just know about them. How does someone get to KNOW another? The answer I would say would be TIME the more time you spend with them the better you know them. When we read these words “For we know him” we have to know whom the personal pronoun “him” is speaking about. So we read on and it is made clear that the pronoun “him” is “the Lord.” Now we ask this question: do we KNOW the Lord? Or do we just KNOW about HIm? The answer is to KNOW Him we must spend time with the Lord. How much time we spend with the Lord will determine how well we Know Him. I don't think any of us spend too much time with the Lord. It's spending little to no time with the Lord, that’s our problem. Do we read our Bible? The answer may be I can’t understand it. Now that’s a cheap answer, there's a lot of things we didn’t understand but now we do understand. How is that? Maybe because we wanted to understand and put the time in. I have put in over 1800 days learning the Spanish language. Day after day I work at it. Learning words, phrases, how to pronรบnciate, and how to spell. Well let me say if you and I were to be dropped off where they only spoke Spanish I’m not sure I would be much help to either of us. Why don’t I just quit working at it? You might ask if you don’t understand Spanish. Great question. But if I quit I will never learn and what I have learned will fade away. I am reminded of this phrase that  Vince Lombardi said “quitters never win and winners never quit.” One last thing I would say I don’t know everything I need to know about the Lord; that’s impossible I would say. Neither would I say I know everything about my wife, whom I love dearly. But what I do KNOW is that I know her so well that if she is in a large crowd of people I can pick her out. I know her voice so well that if I were to hear her without seeing her I would know it was her. I said that to say that I don’t know all I need and want  to know about the Lord. But when I get to heaven I believe I know the Lord enough that I won’t have any trouble picking Him out in the crowd.
