Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

•   Colossians 3:1 (KJV) If ye then be risen with Christ, seek (Go after, Search for) those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
• Colossians 3:2 (KJV) Set  (Put in order) your affection  (passion) on things above, not on things on the earth. 

• Psalms 34:3 (KJV) O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt (elevate) his name together

Magnify “enlarger make bigger”  When we enlarge our awareness of Him we understand Him more and more. We do this by taking control of our mind and thinking more about our God. Magnify God instead of myself. Magnify Him    

• “thine is the kingdom” 
• “the power” 
• “the glory” 

And Minimize Me for I have no kingdom, no power and no glory.    

Mark Chapter 4 verse 35  

• Mark 4:35 (KJV) And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

Chapter starts off with Jesus teaching by the sea side. Jesus used word pictures in His teaching or as the Bible says PARABLES. 

• Jesus taught about the sower and the seed, 
• the lite candle, 
• the seed that grew,  
• the small mustard seed. 

Now the day is coming to an end and Jesus says let go to the other side. Jesus sends the multitude away and He and His disciples enter into a ship. 

• Like the skipper, Gillian and the crew set sail that day for a 3 hours tour only to get shipwrecked on a deserted island. 
• All was well, Jesus heads to the rear and lays down and off to sleep He goes. But wait a minute the wind seemed to be picking up the wave oh my 😱the ship takes a nosedive and water rushes in and then the nose of the ship is straight up in the air. Fear races in among the crew as they see death as Imamate. 
• Wait hold on, where in the world is Jesus? He was in the rear. Has He been swept off into the raging sea? So they head to the rear and what do they see? Jesus fast asleep. 
• They wake Him and this is what that said 

“Oh Lord, thine is the power and the glory.” No! It had nothing to do with who was really in charge, no not at all. Instead we hear this me cry “cares thou not that we perish?”   Don’t You care! Wait just a minute had they not been in class all day learning about how much He cares? Where were these disciples in the seed class as Jesus taught about the Word? Where were these disciples when Jesus taught about being the light that’s not to be hidden?  How about the class of the seed that grew and produced fruit? Oh they must have been asleep when Jesus had the special session where He expounded all He had taught to his Disciples. When the storm was going on this is what they learned “cares thou not that we perish?” The  storm that made the Disciples panic made Jesus drowsy. We like those Disciples aren’t listening and if you aren’t listening you are not learning. 

Read what Jesus did after “cares thou not that we perish?”

• Mark 4:39 (KJV) And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 

All was good or was it? Well the sun is back out, the birds singing and gentle breeze is again blowing, not a cloud in the sky, boy Jesus is wonderful. Really? Do you think so? Jesus had spent the day teaching and to make sure His disciple got it He explained it in a personal private class. Oh their grade after the test an F. What do you think

• Mark 4:40 (KJV) And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

But it goes further than that no matter the storm, no matter the fears and no matter the misunderstanding look what happened. 

• Mark 4:35 (KJV) And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.
•  Mark 5:1 (KJV) And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.

How many tests have you and I failed??

“but deliver us from evil ”

Never forget what’s being taught. It’s the Father speaking to His children.  One of the first things my Dad taught me was how to cross the street. It was Sunday morning and my Dad and I were going to Sunday School. Our Church was on a busy street in the City limits of Atlanta.  We had parked across the street from the Church. As I got out of the car and began to walk toward my dad, he grabbed hold of my left hand. As we walked toward the street we stopped and my dad said Wayne you have to look both ways before crossing the street. Then he said look both ways and tell me what you see? That Sunday morning the traffic was light as we walked across the street. That was my first teaching of crossing a busy street but that wasn’t the end of my learning for the traffic isn’t always light.  

Neither is the traffic in our lives always light. We have all seen on a TV program or movie a man running from the police. As he runs down the sidewalks and alleys he finally darts out into the busy street of the city only to be hit by an oncoming car, truck or bus. 

The order is Stop Look before you Cross. On the other side is where you are wanting to go but if you fail to Stop, Look and Listen your chance of getting to the other side narrows. 

So here we see our Heavenly  Father teaching his children more. We have already been taught how we are to ask for  

• Our Provisions  “give us this day our daily bread”
• Our Pardon “forgive us”

Now we learn how to ask for 

• Our Protection “deliver us” 

deliver us from what? That is a question that only you can answer. What do you need protection from? 

• Is it anger? 
• Is it over spending? 
• Is it taking things that aren’t yours? 
• Is it drugs? 
• Is it alcohol? 
• Is it sex? 
• Is it greed? 
• Is it over eating? 
• You fill in the blanks.  

Protection is being protected from loss. 

We lived in Oklahoma after I returned home after being in  Alaska for 18 months. They had predicted tornadoes. There was a storm shelter on the property we were renting. We went to check it out and we found we had to do a few things to it just in case we needed it. Sometime during the night I got up, turned on the radio and they said that a tornado was on the ground and it was coming our direction. I quickly got my wife and our young baby and we ran out the door to the storm shelter. In that shelter we were safe away from the danger of the oncoming storm. 

“Deliver us from evil” 

1 John 4:4 (KJV) Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

What seemed so large that night we were in a shelter which protected us from the storm above us. What are we being taught in this verse? “greater is he that is in you” Let the storms brew and winds blow for we are sheltered in the arms of our Heavenly Father.  I couldn’t stop that oncoming storm that night and my temptation may be greater than me but like that night of long ago I have a shelter that I can run to. 

Psalms 61:3 (KJV) For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. Remind Me!

Psalms 61:2 (KJV) From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Help Me! 

I Can’t stop, you see my whole family is like this. It’s in our blood. You just nailed it when you said “it’s in our blood. 

• That’s all you have seen, 
• That’s all you have heard and known
• That’s all you expect. 

Here in this prayer of communication Jesus is saying after this manner pray ye “deliver us from evil” when you say that you are saying I can’t. Evil is greater than me. Evil is all around me. I know you have heard of the frog in the warm water that gradually comes to a boil and kills the frog. On the same scale that has happened. Over time our morals have become less and less. There’s not a day that goes by that you don't hear words that should never have been said. These words are used as if they were proper speech. It matters not whether  male or female they blend them into their sentences as if they were a wordsmith. No matter where you go, evil is present. We let evil into our mind and we will have thoughts we never thought we could think. I was called for jury duty and was chosen for the grand jury that’s one day a month for 6 months. I couldn't believe all I heard of the evil that went on in the county I lived in. Oh my 😱you name it and it was happening right here where I lived; evil!

2 Timothy 3:13 (KJV) But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

 Temptation is the devil looking through the keyhole. Yielding is opening the door and inviting him in.

Sara, Abraham’s wife?

Remember God’s Promise?  

• Genesis 15:4 (KJV) And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.

God promises Abraham a son. But the earthy time  clock is ticking. Abraham and Sara are not getting younger, matter a fact they are getting older. Maybe we missed what God said and really meant?

• Genesis 16:1 (KJV) Now Sarai Abram's wife bare him no children: and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.

Human policy will often suggest a course which seems right, but the end is death. 

God didn’t promise them children, He promised a son

They believed God; kinda. Let me explain, God took too long. So they let temptation grab hold of them.  

Who do you think led them into temptation? Who do you think leads us into temptation? 

The Temptation 

• Genesis 16:2 (KJV) And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.

Genesis 17:1 (KJV) And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. Wow, do we believe that?

At least thirteen years had passed since the promise of Isaac. Years of sorrow and discipline, but God had not forgotten. Was Abraham and Sara’s sin of disobedience greater than the promise of God?

I’ve heard people say “God won’t save me.” “My sin is too great.” All I have to say to that is one word: BALONEY! Why? Because I have written proof that’s not so.

• 2 Peter 3:9 (KJV) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

• Was the surrender of Abraham complete? 
• Was his obedience absolute? 
• Was his faith fixed steadfastly on the Promiser. 
• Can we identify? 

So what does God do? He refreshes His promise. What do Abraham and Sara do? They laugh. Many do that. They hide behind the walls of.

• I’m to old 👴
• My  health won’t me 🤮
• I’m divorced 🙅🏻‍♂️ 
• I don’t  know the language 🧔🏻‍♀️ 
• I can’t preach now it’s to late ⏰
• I’m really behind the 🎱 here

• Genesis 17:16 (KJV) And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.
• Genesis 17:17 (KJV) Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear? 

This is interesting to me, the very first time we read the word “laughed” is here, you know what Abraham 

laughed at? God’s Promise! The second time it was Sara and she too laughed at God’s Promise.  

Genesis 18:12 (KJV) Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?

We read of The impossible, how Abraham is too old? Sara says so am I “After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure”

They both laughed at the promise of God because nature/science says no. 

Does God lead His children into temptation? 

• James 1:13 (KJV) Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

Where does this temptation come from? 

• James 1:14 (KJV) But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Way before you do it you thought about doing it.  “But every man is tempted” Every person is tempted, except you, for you are in control, aren’t you? Look what happens next “drawn away” how is this possible? Is it your friends that lead you away? No, I don’t think that’s the case at all. Oh, I see it’s you “of his own lust” you like doing wrong, you like being rebellious. Let’s see if this is so.. 

• Genesis 3:1 (KJV) Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

We see the temper “the serpent”

We see the victim “the woman” 

We see the temptation “hath God said, ye shall not” don’t touch wet paint.  The temptation comes to the victim 1-beer won’t hurt, it’s not like you snore a line everyday, you aren’t  like those other people. Why, they become hogs and they ruin their lives. You have control, you are different. Because you like it, the desire or your LUST entices you.  Entice “excites the desire.” So you move into action.

“Lead us not into temptation” Help me Lord to stay clear of that which tempts me.
