To be Reachable just be teachable.

We have a MODEL for Living: Would it not be wonderful if we all could get along.
Here in Matthew 6 the Lord says “After this manner pray ye” What has happened? Here’s what is a BIG PROBLEM nowadays. The Church! How is that? The lack of Worship Services. The organizing
King David ask that question in Psalms 27:4 (KJV) One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.
David wasn’t asking the Lord if it would be alright for him to drop by occasionally for coffee. Oh no David said “One thing have I desired of the LORD” what’s that David? “that I may dwell in the house of the LORD ” That DESIRE has turned into a DWELL?? Move In? How long David was you planning on staying? “all the days of my life” Oh my for what purpose? “to behold the beauty of the LORD” Goodness gracious, David is there more? Well I would also like to enquire in His Temple? “and to enquire in his temple.” Sounds like to me that David wants more than an hour a week. If you don’t enjoy going to the House of the Lord now all I can say is that you better hope the Lord changes your outlook.
- People may forget who you are but they will never forget how you made them feel.
We don’t always have to be first. I would always blow the minds of the young boys I picked for my team. I never forgot how it made me feel to be picked last for the team when I was growing up.
When I would go to youth camps and we would pick teams. I would always start picking first those that had always been picked last. You see, the goal was not to win the ball game, although I like to win. The goal was to build up the beaten down, the ones always picked last.
This young boy might not be the best ball player, his skills may be in math or English or even chest and checkers. Give him or her a bat and a ball and they may look like losers. Put them in front of a checker board and you’ll leave crying.
God didn’t make us all alike, oh that would be awful, thank you God for being so kind to us. We don’t all get along from the highway to the hallway, we are all different.
As we travel through this model prayer the Lord teaches us how we are to live. How we should treat others. Here is a valuable lesson that many never learn. What is that? You nor I can never change others, but we can change ourselves. One would say that’s compromising, really?
- When I picked my team as a leader
I really wanted to win the ball game. Then why did you pick a team that would lose? Because I need to change my way of thinking because winning was only a one day event. Tell me who won the Super Bowl in 2018? most can’t, why? It was a one day event. A while back I found a trophy of when I played league baseball and it brought back fond memories of my childhood day. I played for the Red Soxs and we were the triple AAA champions that year. What year was that? I don’t know, the year wasn’t on the trophy. Although I hadn’t thought of winning that championship in years it was almost a forgotten memory. Now what I haven’t forgotten were the three men who poured into my life not just how to play ball but to live life. Which one do you think has helped me as a person more; learning how to play good ball? Or learning how to live life by teaching me how to play ball.? Charlie Smith, Wilber Eubanks, and Horas Cotton are all gone but what they spent time teaching others lives on. Did those 3 men teach me how to be a good coach of baseball? Oh no they taught me how to coach others in life. You see, I played ball with them for 3 years.
The first year I didn’t know how to play baseball. That was what they wanted. You say wanted. Oh yes they wanted me because I was teachable.
Second year I was learning as they put their teaching to use.
Third year I was hitting home runs, stealing bases. I can remember them telling us “you can’t win them all boys, but we want you boys to know we are proud of the way you played today.” “Today Gene gets the game ball for his quick thinking. Let’s give Gene a big Red Soxes yell.” Oh we lost the game but we left the field feeling as if we had won.
Our Father in Heaven is like that. He works with His kids, you might just hear Him say as you read His word “I’m proud of you for how you talked to others about Me. Oh but this world is sure to expose your wrongs and failures. Get a record with the Judicial system and then turn your life around and the Judicial system will never let you or others forget it.
I was blessed.
I had come home on leave and while at home I got into a bit of trouble and got locked up. When my leave was up I went back to Duluth Minnesota. Court date came and I missed it. A bench warrant was made for my arrest. You know what happened? I never got into trouble with the law again. A while back as I was riding with the Monroe police he pulled my record up. Know what he found? Nothing! I have a clean record. Thank you Uncle Sam.
