Appetites

When we think of the word appetite we think of eating food. That is one meaning for it; a physical desire for food but the word appetite goes much further than that. It also means a desire or liking for something. Now that something could be anything from Wine to Wealth and much, much more; a desire or liking for something. As I read Proverbs chapter 23 I realized a few appetites; the first appetite I noticed was the appetite of wealth

Pro 23:5 Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven. The appetite for wealth will destroy your relationship with your family and friends. Don’t let your appetites over take you; neither look at others for they may appear to be having and living a fine life. Within they are not happy at all for real happiness is found in the Lord. Let your appetite be for the Lord as for food a must for the day and you will soon see that it will enlarge you. Another appetite I noticed was an appetite for women

Pro 23:27  For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit.

Pro 23:28 She also lieth in wait as for a prey, and increaseth the transgressors among men.

Be careful for Lust for it will also ruin relationships and destroy your family. When things are bad and you’re feeling low that is when to watch out for the danger of lust. Its pleasures only last   for a minute but the results will last your life time. It’s not a red light but a red flag. Then I noticed another appetite and it was the appetite for wine

Pro 23:29 Who hath woe? Who hath sorrow? Who hath contentions? Who hath babbling? Who hath wounds without cause? Who hath redness of eyes?

Pro 23:30 They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.

Wine not only destroys relationships with family and friends but it also destroys much more. It destroys your health and makes you look older than you are and when you are intoxicated it will not be long before you find yourself all alone for no one wants to be around you when you are in that shape.
