Small Successes

Terry Bradshaw is kind of a legendary quarterback, and he called the '08 Super Bowl the greatest Super Bowl he's ever seen. Why would he say such a thing? In the 2008 Super Bowl the New England Patriots were 18 and 0 and favored to win for the Giants were a 12-point underdog. Tom Coughlin had a secret for his under-rated players' success; it was a small thing but it lead to a great victory. Tom Coughlin took the name off the teams jerseys' and each player checked their egos at the door. Why in the world did he think that would even make a difference? Well Jesus said in Matthew 5:5
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
And in 1Peter 5:5
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
In a world where it's all about "me", if you're the person who's all about others, you may have more personal influence than anyone else. Think about it. Are you about you winning, or are you about helping them win? Do you care who gets the credit? Is it about how important you are, or making them feel important? That day Jesus was beaten, spit upon, stripped, made fun of, had awful things said to Him and about Him, then nailed to a cross; what did He have to say? Have you ever thought what you would have said had it been you? Here you are innocent and all of a sudden one of your friends comes and give you a kiss and the next thing you know you are being lead away to jail and a kangaroo court in the middle of the night. Then you were found guilty and given the death penalty what would you have to say? I think we would have plenty to say maybe find you a Ken Nugent type lawyer. But that's not at all what Jesus did for He didn't even open His mouth as they led Him to the cross and nailed spikes through His hands and feet. What would you have said? Here is what Jesus said Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. Think you would have said something like that? I don't think I would have. Little things lead to great success. Is it really important that everyone knows you did it? Have you ever thought it takes the whole team to win not just one player? Here is what Jesus said Luke 9:23
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
We must remember it's not all about me or you but it is all about Him; it's a daily thing!
