Hiding

When my great grandmother died she was in her 90's. I remember one afternoon my Dad asked her if she could remember the first time she ever saw an automobile? She said, "Oh yes, it was a strange thing to see"; I wonder what she would have to say today. Our modern world is so different. Cars going up and down the highways that are everywhere at speeds that would be unbelievable to her simple way of life. Milestones, with cell phones that do more than most know how to operate, computers that do so much and can hold so much information; it is almost unbelievable. Yet our civilization marches on to even greater things. But there are some things that never change. Man, his need, and his God, are still the same. Adam back in the garden had just accomplished something that was very satisfying; at least for a short time anyways. For the first time in his life there was something wrong and he was disturbed for he realizes that he and Eve are naked and it was wrong. He must do something about it. Here is where you and I may get our resourcefulness from. Adam must find a way out of this dilemma so he puts his mind to work and bingo he came up with an answer. Genesis 3:7
And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
He and Eve put their garments on and it covered up their nakedness. I can hear them now; Eve you look hot in that there fig outfit and she told Adam you are one hunk of a man. All was going great as they congratulated each other with eyes that must have shined and a content heart, yes, all was well. This was short lived because they heard something that gripped their very soul. They trembled; oh no, it's God so they ran and hid themselves among the trees.

Genesis 3:8
And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

Adam & Eve soon found out three things #1- How inadequate their clothing; still naked #2- How inadequate their hiding place; they could not escape nor could they elude God by slipping away among the trees. #3- How inadequate their excuses; they were both still guilty. May I say that conviction never reaches a soul until God speaks? So when He speaks don't run and try to hide but instead run to Him for in Him there is safety.
Proverbs 18:10

The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
All may look well today, good health, good wealth, good job, good family, great children. May I say those are all things to be proud of but one day the voice of God will call you. Will you be glad to hear it or will you run and try to hide as Adam did?
