The Rest of the Story

It was an exciting read, believable yes; like a Paul Harvey read with a twist at the end when he made his famous saying “and now you know the rest of the story.” As you read about Louis Brown you may have said “wow I didn’t know that.” As you read you may have cared less or you may have said I have confidence in the one writing and I am sure he has researched this and knows, I’ll take his word for it. Well, whatever your take on the Louis Brown story was I would like to add a little something else; the truth. We all know that there was a man named Elvis Presley and if you took the time to pull up that web address you would also have known that there was a Louis Brown and he owned a recording studio. Did you take the time to read the mouse print at the bottom? (April Fools) If you did then you know the truth of the story. Yes, you would have had to enlarge it to have read it but it was a set up for today.  Too many times we just believe what we read or are told. I love what Act 17 and verse 11 says about what happens when Paul and Silas went into the synagogue of the Jews in Berea These (Jews in Berea) were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” These Jews first received the Word of God with all readiness of mind but then they went another step in that they searched the scriptures daily to see whether those things they were hearing were true. Here in is the problem, most everyone has some kind of Church back ground in their life; there are all kinds and they all have some error; some more than others. Kind of like Elvis and Louis there was some truth and there was some error in that story; but you must say it was believable. Maybe not to you but some believed it. Really doesn’t matter where you did or didn’t what we each need to do is do as those Jews did in Berea receive it with a ready mind and then search it out daily in the scriptures and see for ourselves if it is really true. We can believe a lie and miss the truth very easily. This is how
John 8:44  Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he (the devil) speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. The first lie that was told, was told by the devil; he was the inventor of the lie. He also wants to destroy our lives just as he did with Adam and Eve. His message hasn’t changed he still doesn’t want you and I to believe in a God that loves you and I so much that He was willing to send His only Son to die for our sins. He still likes to get us tangled up in religion like Nicodemus and even Saul thinking you are doing right and all that God wants you to do, but as those two found out they were dead wrong. It only take a little of our time and it’s better now then later when there is nothing we can do after we leave this life. The Jews at Berea say “search the Scriptures” the rich man in hell cries out “search the Scriptures” those in the book of the Revelation cry out “search the Scriptures.” So it’s time for you and I to search the Scriptures and see if the things we are placing our eternal hope in are the things that are true. Have a blessed week, use that great mind God has given each one of us and forgive me for the Louis Brown story.
